WOODPATEL Supports Mesa’s Neon Garden and Historic Post Office Revitalization

In the heart of Downtown Mesa, a bold and creative revitalization effort is lighting up the city. The newly unveiled Neon Garden celebrates Mesa’s rich heritage with a colorful display of restored vintage signs, blending nostalgia with art in a vibrant public space.

Just steps away, The Post, Mesa’s iconic 1936 Federal Moderne-style post office, has been reimagined as a dynamic community and event venue. Together, these projects signal a renewed investment in the city’s cultural identity and future—and WOODPATEL is proud to have played a role in bringing them to life.

Preserving the Past, Building for the Future

Our team provided civil engineering services for the redevelopment of The Post, delivering modern infrastructure solutions with great sensitivity to the building’s historic character. Key elements of our work included:

  • Upgrading site utilities and drainage systems without compromising the architectural integrity of the original structure

  • Coordinating design elements to ensure ADA compliance and site accessibility

  • Supporting the transformation of a federal building into a welcoming space for community events, gatherings, and innovation

These improvements reflect WOODPATEL’s commitment to engineering excellence and to projects that honor the past while building for the future.

A Community-Centered Vision

Together, The Post and the Neon Garden reflect the City of Mesa’s dedication to urban revitalization, creative placemaking, and community connection. The result is a neighborhood destination where historic preservation meets contemporary functionality—a place that draws residents and visitors alike.

We are grateful to have partnered with GH2 Architects, LLC on this inspiring project, and proud to help shape public spaces that tell a story, create connection, and spark civic pride.

At WOODPATEL, we don’t just build infrastructure, we help create, connect, and protect the places where Arizona communities thrive.
