    • Participates in various personnel functions, including, but not limited to, performance appraisal, and employee development.
    • Assists the senior engineer in the implementation of the goals established for the office. Demonstrates the ability to build client relationships. This includes an awareness of all projects client might be undertaking.

    Requirements

    • Arizona P.E. required
    • 6 years of design experience of land development (residential or commercial) or transportation and drainage projects
    • Energetic, self-motivated professional with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and tasks
    • Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary as well as technical competency
    • Effective decision making, budget control, client maintenance and team building skills

    Construction Inspector

    Description

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Observe civil construction activities in-progress and determine compliance with project plans, details and specifications; recommend acceptance or rejection.
    • Inspect, monitor, and report on all phases of the construction processes for private and public projects.
    • Ensure contractors and other service providers understand the intent of the project plans, details and specifications.
    • Measure quantities of completed work for payment.
    • Prepare detailed daily inspection reports.
    • Assign duties to other inspectors and oversee their performance.
    • Maintain field file of approved submittals and RFI responses.
    • Communicate regularly with the Construction Manager.
    • Monitor the contractor’s “red line” drawings and order corrections as necessary.

    Requirements

    • High School diploma or GED. College degree is a plus.
    • 8 years progressively responsible experience as a construction inspector on a variety of civil projects.
    • Familiar with MAG Stand Specifications and Details.
    • Experience with the various types of paving applications, including asphalt and concrete.
    • Ability to read and understand construction plans.
    • Willingness and ability to work outdoors in a desert environment.
    • Willingness and ability to work on remote projects.
    • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
    • Applicable ACI and ATTI Certifications.

    Drainage/Water Resources Engineer

    We currently have an opening for a full-time Drainage/Water Resources Engineer in our Phoenix or Mesa office.  The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to work on projects involving multidisciplinary teams.  The position is in support of project assignments related to land development drainage engineering, stormwater management and surface water permitting.  The position may also have the opportunity to support project efforts related to other disciplines, such as site development, public works and transportation infrastructure.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Support the development and analysis of drainage mitigation alternatives as part of planning level studies and assist in      preparing budget level cost estimates.
    • Perform drainage analysis including hydrologic modeling, hydraulic modeling of channels and/or washes, scour analysis,   culvert design, roadway drainage, storm drain hydraulics, retention/detention design, erosion protection design and design of      hydraulic structures including weirs, culverts, drop structures, and energy dissipaters.
    • Prepare technical documents and reports in support of drainage engineering and floodplain management work.
    • Coordinate development of stormwater management, permitting and compliance products.

    Requirements

    • 3-8 years of experience in drainage such as master plan communities, residential subdivisions, commercial developments, and      FEMA CLOMR/LOMR.
    • EIT licensure required, PE is a plus.
    • Past working experience with the following hydrologic and hydraulic models: HEC-1/HEC-HMS, HEC-2/HEC-RAS, and FLO-2D.
    • Experience in the use of GIS related to drainage analysis and design.
    • Familiarity with the creation and/or interpretation of construction documents (plans and specifications) related to drainage infrastructure.
    • Experience using Autodesk Civil3D.
    • Experience preparing drainage related construction documents such as channels, culverts, and storm drain systems.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly, both verbally and in writing.
    • Capacity to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills with limited supervision.

    WOODPATEL has an immediate opening for a Civil Engineering Intern in our Phoenix office who will work within a team in our Land Development Department.  This will be a part-time position consisting of 10 - 20 hours per week during the school semesters and 20-40 during the Winter/Spring/Summer as workload allows. 


    The Civil Engineering Intern assists and supports the Project Engineer and Project Manager on assigned projects. The position works under direct supervision, performs routine daily activities and gathers and distributes information. The Project Engineering Intern must be an adaptable, team-player, as well as have strong communication and client service skills.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Knowledge of mathematics functions (geometry, basic algebra);

    • Computer skills (MS Office, Civil 3D);

    • Ability to perform all work in a timely, professional and efficient manner while effectively communicating and interacting with engineering team; 

    • Ability to develop and maintain project schedules and project budgets and to identify changes and discrepancies;

    Project-level duties include:

    • Reviewing project financials and making decisions on schedule/resources to achieve project goals.

    • Review engineering design plans for compliance with applicable codes and standards.
    • Oversee the design of WOODPATEL staff and sub-consultants through entitlements, preliminary design, final design and construction.

    Education, Experience, and Other Requirements:

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, advanced degree a plus.
