Wickenburg Ranch

Outside the hustle and bustle of the Phoenix metro area is Wickenburg, Arizona a true Western town that’s home to Wickenburg Ranch. People come here for the small-town change of pace, the stunning vistas of the desert and mountain ranges, and the star-filled, dark night skies. This deluxe new home resort community for all ages, with select 55+ neighborhoods, has an award-winning golf course. The golf course was named by Golf Digest as a Top Ten Best New Golf Course in North America in 2015 and the Golf & Social Club was awarded the Gold Award for Best Community Amenity by the National Association of Home Builders. The community is a 2,157-acre master-planned community at the intersection of U.S. Highway 93 and State Route 89 in Wickenburg, AZ. The community consists of a resort, a championship golf course with clubhouse, an athletic club, an equestrian center and over 3,100 homes. Wickenburg Ranch is a challenging hillside community with numerous desert washes and significant drainage constraints. WOODPATEL’s engineering services included master engineering of drainage, water, and wastewater; major infrastructure for four miles of roadway, water transmission lines and wastewater trunk lines; and the clubhouse and residential development. Our services include engineering coordination with the developer and golf course architect on both Big Wick and Li’l Wick golf courses. Significant drainage engineering constraints on the project involved the USACE and FEMA. We provided a Significant Nexus Analysis for the entire watershed including the Martinez Wash of over 23,000 cubic feet per second. The USACE concurred with the analysis which removed all the previous Jurisdictional Washes from the community. WOODPATEL provided FEMA Floodplain engineering to receive approval from FEMA for Letter of Map Revisions (LOMR) resulting in over 100 acres of additional developable land. In addition to the civil engineering services provided, WOODPATEL performed construction staking and inspection.
