Walmart Retail Centers
WOODPATEL was the civil engineer of record for multiple new build Walmart retail centers in Arizona. Our services typically included land survey, preliminary design, final construction documents, and owner support during construction.
Walmart Supercenter – Prescott, AZ
This 200,000 plus square-foot store is located on 22 acres at the northeast corner of Highway 69 and Prescott Lakes Parkway. The site also includes shared parking and utilities with three pad sites supporting independent restaurant and retail uses. A U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Section 404 Permit was obtained and 1.2 million cubic yards of soil was excavated due to significant earthwork cuts of 100 feet and fills of 60 feet. Rocky soil caused significant design and construction challenges on 60-foot cut slopes along two sides of the site. Excellent, clean construction documents and integrated Construction Management services met the needs of the extremely aggressive schedule.
Walmart Supercenter – Mesa, AZ
This 200,000 plus square-foot store, located along Greenfield Road, included both on-site and off-site improvements for the overall retail center. Off-site roadway improvements included East Valley Auto Drive, Juanita Avenue, Greenfield Road, and the eastbound US 60 off ramp. WOODPATEL worked closely with the City of Mesa, ADOT, and the developer to deliver this project on time.
Walmart Supercenter – Phoenix, AZ
WOODPATEL was the civil engineer of record for the Bethany Town Center, a 306,000 square-foot power center located at the Northeast Corner of 35th Avenue & Bethany Home Road. The neighborhoods surrounding Bethany Town Center have over 200,000 residents in a three-mile radius making it one of the most densely populated areas in Phoenix. The project consisted of placing a Walmart Supercenter on the existing operational shopping center site, which resulted in unique design and construction challenges. Water capacity issues required an extension of an off-site 16-inch waterline in Bethany Home Road to serve the site.
