The Beam

The Beam, located in Tempe, is Arizona’s first cross-laminated timber office building. This structure has sustainability practices in mind. By utilizing young trees, the structure can capture 3.5 tons of carbon dioxide from the air and improve overall air quality throughout the building. WOODPATEL provided complete civil improvement plans for a new office building and a parking structure with office space on 3.3 acres. The improvement plans included grading & drainage, storm drain, water, sewer, underground storm water retention facilities, and off-site half-street improvements. We also coordinated with SRP to have an existing 30″ SRP irrigation line relocated around the site’s perimeter. In addition, the WOODPATEL survey department provided a topographic survey for design, boundary verification, and parcel descriptions for easements.
