Scottsdale Road, Thompson Peak to Pinnacle Peak Road & Bridge
WOODPATEL provided the Design Concept Report, final contract documents including drainage reports and specifications for Scottsdale Road from Thompson Peak to Pinnacle Peak Road. The project required the existing four-lane road to be a significant arterial section. The design team employed a phased approach involving the roadway and wet and dry utilities due to the bridge structure on Scottsdale Road, south of Pinnacle Peak Road, serving Rawhide Wash 10,900 cubic feet per second. Approved solutions included multiple drops in the sanitary sewer line to clear the bridge structure. Temporary traffic control was also a significant concern due to the high traffic count on Scottsdale Road. The team coordinated extensively with multiple stakeholders, including local business owners, homeowner associates, utility companies, future developments, and the Arizona State Land Department. Final roadway and temporary roadway paving improvements were part of the solution to deliver the project within budget and on time successfully.
