San Francisco Giants Player Development Center

WOODPATEL is the Civil Engineer for the redevelopment of the 40-acre San Francisco Giants Baseball Complex at Papago. As part of a 35-year lease agreement with the City of Scottsdale and the City of Phoenix, the San Francisco Giants will utilize the facilities at Papago Baseball and Sports Complex for player development and training. Improvements to the existing complex are a 40,000 square foot, two-story clubhouse, player workout facility, operations, and maintenance structures. In addition, field improvements included:

  • Two full-size practice ballfields
  • An agility training field
  • Reconditioned practice infield
  • Four reconditioned ballfields
They renovated batting tunnels: enhanced pedestrian and vehicular circulation, additional public parking, and environmentally responsible landscape applications. Thanks to a partnership between the City of Phoenix, the City of Scottsdale, and the San Francisco Giants, the Papago Baseball and Sports Complex will be reborn as a viable, year-round facility that supports and benefits the local and state economy while also becoming a catalyst for continued community redevelopment.
