Red Mountain Park

WOODPATEL is the civil engineer for the 300-acre Red Mountain Park in Mesa, Arizona. The design team developed concepts during the phase, including an Aerial Topographic Survey of the approximate 125-acre design area of the planned expansion along with a Lake Expansion. In addition, water Supply Concept Grading and Earthwork Analysis were Phase 1 deliverables.

Red Mountain Park is one of Mesa’s largest public sports and recreation facilities. The Park is located on both sides of Brown Road just southwest of the Loop 202 Freeway in East Mesa. Red Mountain Park, developed in phases since its inception in the early 1980s, currently occupies approximately 150 acres of the overall 320-acre site. The Park boasts a varied menu of amenities that includes baseball and softball fields, multi-use soccer fields, an 8-acre fishing and irrigation lake, a multi-generational recreation center, volleyball and basketball courts, disk golf courses, and a network of walking paths and ramadas. In 2019 the City of Mesa initiated the RFQ and Interview process for selecting a qualified design team for the Red Mountain Park Expansion. This $22.5 Million expansion will consist of up to 10 new multi-use soccer fields, four new ball fields, two new restroom facilities, parking lot expansions and entry drive improvements, and pedestrian circulation improvements, all on approximately 60 acres of undeveloped property on the east side of the Park. WOODPATEL partnered with Dig Studio (Prime) to win the Red Mountain Park Expansion design contract in 2019. To date, WOODPATEL has provided topographic survey services and concept phase site planning, grading and utility design, and cost estimation support. WOODPATEL will continue to play a vital role in shaping the next phase of Red Mountain Park. Ultimately, we will deliver the final civil engineering design documents for the expansion’s mass grading, grading and drainage, water and sewer improvements, onsite parking lot paving, and offsite public roadway improvements.
