Maryvale Ballpark
This award-winning, 56-acre baseball park and spring training facility was developed for the Milwaukee Brewers. The project included five full practice fields; two half-field practice fields; an 8,000-seat stadium; major- and minor-league clubhouse facilities; parking; and a major public events plaza. Project considerations included turf parking in the soccer field locations, sports field turf design, pedestrian circulation routing, parking distribution, ADA accessibility routing, constraints of existing utility easements, and grading for on-site retention. Special to this project was a FEMA floodplain and extensive off-site improvements. Awards included the AIA Arizona, “Celebrate Architecture” Citation Award, 1998; and the Arizona Consulting Engineers Association, “Engineering Excellence” Merit Award, 1998. WOODPATEL provided civil engineering, flood control, off-site and improvements.
