Estrella Parkway, MC 85 to West Vineyard Avenue
Estrella Parkway is one of the major arterial roadways for the City of Goodyear, anticipating 32,000 vehicles per day by 2032. To improve the safety and capacity, WOODPATEL completed the Design Concept Report (DCR), which analyzed alternatives for reconstructing the 2-lane rural road into Goodyear’s scenic arterial. Evaluations included alternative analysis for 1.5 miles of roadway; a bridge selection report for a new 2,200-foot-long parallel bridge over the Gila River; and drainage concepts, including confirmation of regional flows and impacts to the Gila River. The DCR was completed per ADOT and FHWA guidelines to comply with federal funding requirements. Specific services included: utility coordination, roadway sections, and plans, intersection signalization, roadway lighting, traffic control plans and construction phasing for Broadway, Romley, Roeser, and Vineyard Roads; right-of-way requirement determination; horizontal & vertical control; topographic survey; and cost estimation. In addition, utility coordination established clearance and design requirements for high-voltage power transmission corridors and critical water services to Palo Verde Power Plant.
