Centennial Plaza

Centennial Plaza is a celebration park commemorating the State Centennial in 2012. As a competitive design-build competition, the park project revolved around a “seed” concept of Peoria’s potential in the coming century. An informative “Decades Walk” identifies concurrent World, state, and local events, both historic and pop culture, which have shaped our community and state. The design elements in the plaza included a vegetative shading structure that combines architectural features that interact with the Decade’s Walk, an open event lawn, a bio-swale, and an amphitheater shade structure. In addition, the drainage design required the incorporation of approximately 110,000 cubic feet of storm water retention.
