Casino Del Sol
Known as the Sol of Tucson, the Casino Del Sol is a premier 10-story hotel and conference center just south of downtown Tucson. Reminiscent of its history as a true community partner, Casino Del Sol is a destination of choice for Arizona and throughout the Southwest. The resort includes 215 luxurious guest rooms and suites with more than 65,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor functional space; and outdoor recreational area and swimming pool; and an 18,000 square-foot conference center.
WOODPATEL provided all conceptual and final civil engineering services for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe to fast-track the design and construction process. Initial tasks included field survey providing control for digital aerial base mapping and location of current improvements. The conceptual phase included grading and drainage, sewer, and water design for the initial pro forma and budgeting purposes. WOODPATEL went on to complete site grading, new drainage channels and storm drains to accommodate additional runoff identified in the conceptual phase. Critical, schedule-driven work included identifying existing sewer, water, and dry utility conflicts and routing design of new water and sewer systems to have minimal disruption to on-going resort operations. This fast-tracked project was completed successfully on time and under budget and is a testament to the communication and coordination between the design team and contractor.
