Capstone Downtown

WOODPATEL provided civil engineering design for construction of a 17 story, 282,416 square foot mixed-use building in Downtown Phoenix. The facility will include 64,000 sf of classroom space for the Arizona State University Downtown Campus as well as 169 residential units to provide student housing. The design scope included providing water, sewer, fire line, grading, and drainage design in an urban environment. Specific design challenges included coordination with an extensive number of existing utilities, and meeting site drainage requirements with limited availability of site area. WOODPATEL provided assistance with exhibits and design required to satisfy existing property owners, as well as coordination with multiple authorities having jurisdiction to satisfy both City of Phoenix and Arizona State University requirements.
