Baseline Road and Cesar Chavez Park Drive
The City of Phoenix contracted WOODPATEL to design the public arterial roadway improvements along Baseline Road from 41st Avenue to 39th Avenue and the Cesar Chavez Park Drive collector roadway. Along Baseline Road, median enhancements create safe pedestrian zones with a median fence for pedestrian access control, removal of a mid-block pedestrian crossing, and installation of a traffic signal at 39th Ave. The Cesar Chavez Park Drive created connectivity between Baseline Road, a park, and Cesar Chavez High School. A roundabout was designed to enhance traffic flow and accommodate school bus traffic. In addition, consciously designed drainage improvements and pedestrian connectivity enhance the park.
