This site was designed with many of the same attributes as an elementary school site. This included separate baseball and soccer fields, associated bleachers, encouraging way-finding from the park-like setting to the building, and a parking lot with safety drop-off areas. This 6-acre site was a redevelopment of an existing 30-year-old Boys & Girls Club site. Design involved revised drainage conditions associated with driveway reconfigurations. The project delivery method was CMAR and the facility is LEED certified. The site is located within a FEMA floodplain requiring a complex grading design to raise the building above the 100-year flood elevation. Extra precautions were made to keep the facility “child friendly” and ADA accessible.
