WOODPATEL provided all the civil engineering services for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe to fast-track the design and construction process of the 10-story hotel and conference center which includes 215 luxurious guest rooms and suites with more than 65,000 square-feet of indoor/outdoor function space, an outdoor recreational area and swimming pool, a 4-level above ground 1,120-space parking garage, and an 18,000 square-foot conference center facility addition to the existing iconic Casino Del Sol. Initial tasks included field survey services providing control for digital aerial base mapping and location of existing improvements. This allowed WOODPATEL to provide conceptual grading and drainage, sewer, and water design for the initial pro forma and budgeting purposes. Site grading, review of existing drainage patterns, and design of new drainage channels and storm drains was completed to accommodate additional runoff from the proposed expansion, while rerouting existing infrastructure. Critical tasks associated with the expansion included identifying existing sewer, water and dry utility alignment conflicts and then coordinating the design of new water and sewer systems to route the utilities with minimal disruption to the ongoing resort operations. This 18-month project was completed on time and under budget and is a testament to the communication and coordination between the design team and contractor.
