WOODPATEL provided civil design for constructing a 17-story, 282,416 square-foot mixed-use building in Downtown Phoenix. The facility will include 64,000 square feet of classroom space for the Arizona State University Downtown Campus and 169 residential units to provide student housing. The design scope included providing water, sewer, fire line, grading, and drainage design in an urban environment. Specific design challenges included coordination with a vast number of existing utilities and meeting site drainage requirements with limited availability of site area. In addition, WOODPATEL assisted with exhibits and design required to satisfy existing property owners and coordinated with multiple Authorities Having Jurisdiction to meet the City of Phoenix and Arizona State University requirements.
