The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Opens New Justice Center

The SRP-MIC Justice Center celebrated its completion with a grand opening October 6th. Located at the northeast corner of Longmore and Osborn Roads in Scottsdale, the 92,000 square-foot, multi-level facility consolidates the tribal government departments and house courtrooms, judicial chambers, court administration, and detainee holding areas.  The project also included an expansion of the Two Waters Complex central plant and chilled water loop to the site.

Wood/Patel provided Civil Engineering services, including site plan assistance, grading and drainage design for parking, open space and adjacent roadway improvements, water and sewer service, a fire line extension, and storm drain system. Additionally, we assisted the community and design team by modifying the adjacent existing parking area and pedestrian walkways. The intricacies of the project required extensive coordination between the entire design team and SRP-MIC staff.

The Justice Center was recognized in 2014 with an AIA Arizona Design Excellence Award in the “Unbuilt Award” category, described by the judging panel as “aspirational.”
