Transportation

This project installed median improvements along Baseline Road from 41st Avenue to 39th Avenue and a new roadway connecting Baseline Road to the Cesar Chavez Park parking lot. Median improvements along Baseline Road comprised of access control with new curb and median fence to minimize unsafe pedestrian movements, removal of a mid-block pedestrian crossing, installation of a new traffic signal at 39th Avenue, and landscaping. The new roadway south of Baseline Road provided connectivity between Baseline Road, the Cesar Chavez Park parking lot and Cesar Chavez High School. It included a roundabout to accommodate school bus traffic, reconfiguration of retention basins and pedestrian enhancements including connectivity to adjacent ball fields. Wood/Patel’s scope of services for this project included data acquisition, field survey, paving plans, traffic circulation assessment, roundabout design, drainage design and study, street lighting, utility coordination, quality/cost estimates, coordination with Cesar Chavez High School, and adjacent property owners.
